Most AI tutors are a chat window. You ask a question, you get back three paragraphs of text, and if you did not follow it the second time you get the same three paragraphs with different words. That is not what teaching looks like.
Lumi teaches on a whiteboard. It draws the diagram while it is explaining the diagram, so the thing you are looking at and the thing you are hearing arrive together rather than one after the other. You can cut in halfway through and it stops, the same way a person would.
The other decision was to build against the exam boards rather than a generic syllabus. A student revising for a specific paper does not want the whole topic, they want the part of the topic that gets marks, in the language the mark scheme uses.
Built on BAEHQ's August 2026 cohort and launched from it. 140 users in the first 5 days, and a few angel investors interested since.
